Got this intuition after watching Thursday's Explorace finals where Sg Sedim was part of their quest. We left around 10.30am from Penang heading towards Kulim, first to the famous Tan Ah Kee duck rice in Lunas. Sweet memories there since I've been working in Kulim for past 2 years before switching over to the current company. Too bad, no photos coz battery end of life. After the delicious nasi itik, dropped by Intel Kulim to see what's the progress after I have left. KM3 is up and it's big! But even bigger is Infineon and the signboard is like.. ummm.. cannot be missed unless your glasses is super thick. We then proceed to Sg Sedim. Well, for those planning to go there, i better be precised about the road direction. After you exit BKE highway, go straight and keep on straight until you reach a traffic light with the signboard Hutan Lipur Sungai Sedim (yes you'll find yourself in Baling - that is the right way). There is NO signboard prior to that so it's no surprise that you may think you're heading the wrong way. Just follow the signboard and you'll arrive at another junction without clear sign. Just follow the signboard to Hutan Lipur Bukit Hijau and then later down you'll see the Hutan Lipur Sg Sedim signboard again. You'll come to a small and winding road with a lot of Mat Rempits. You are on the right track. Go straight until you see a small sign of Tree Top Walk. Just follow the signboard and you'll come to the entrance where you have to pay RM2 for parking. The Tree Top walk is worth a try (entrance RM10) since it's the longest one in the world and it's almost 1km walk. So visit the toilet before you start walking! The journey from Kulim to this waterfall is around 45 minutes - so altogether it's 1.5 hours After that, we tried tubing at the waterfall. M and I got a tube for loan each for RM3, it's like those cheap black tyre. Thinking back, I was quite foolish to try out without proper safety equipment i.e. helmet, rubber shoes and life jacket. The water was so fast that it was difficult to stop and I banged my back a few times. You have to think twice before trying to stop coz you dunno how deep are the waters unless you can see the sandy ground. Almost lost my specs too! Thank God a family there saw me struggling to stop and they pulled me and the tyre tube. M was far behind and by the time i was up, I don't see him anymore. After a while, saw him walking on the ground towards me!!! He gave up letting the water bring him down coz his tube kept getting stuck on the rocks :) For those who are more adventurous, you can try the white water rafting. RM110 per person with instructor and safety equipments. Gotta make appointment first. Don't be so foolish like me :) risking life without proper equipment. However, the water was ice cool and lepaking there is indeed refreshing. We left the waterfall at 4.44pm, dropped by Kulim for a while and headed back to Penang. Haha, wonderful day must end with wonderful dinner. We went to Batu Maung, Hai Boey seafood (it's slightly further down after Good Friend seafood). Ordered salted duck egg crab (rm21), vege and their claypot fish which is super delicious but super expensive (rm44). I would recommend this place as it has a better view than Good Friend seafood and there's ample parking! Till then, thanks M for the wonderful day trip. Badly needed it. leave me a message
